Hawks 99, Cavaliers 83
Marvin Williams had 31 points and Josh Smith had 18 rebounds, both season highs, and the Atlanta Hawks beat the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road Sunday 99-83 without leading scorer Joe Johnson.
Williams missed his career high by two points, but provided plenty of firepower to beat the league’s worst team. Johnson sprained his thumb in Saturday’s victory and missed the game, but the Hawks didn’t need him.
The Cavs didn’t score their first point until 5:10 into the game. By then, they were down 8-0 and never recovered. The Hawks led every second of the game.
Baron Davis had 19 points and seven assists off the bench and starting point guard Ramon Sessions had 13 points and three assists, but the Cavs shot 37 percent and got just 37 points from their starters to lose for the 11th time in their last 14 games.
Al Horford had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who have won two straight.
