Hawks 104, Pistons 96
Al Horford had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six assists to help the Atlanta Hawks to a 104-96 victory over the visiting Detroit Pistons on Sunday.
Joe Johnson had 17 points and eight assists and Josh Smith had 17 points and nine rebounds as Atlanta (40-30) snapped a two-game losing streak and won for just the seventh time in 19 games.
Rodney Stuckey had 22 points and eight assists and Chris Wilcox had 18 points on 9-of-10 shooting for Detroit (25-45).
The Hawks opened up a 14-point lead in the third quarter with an 11-0 run capped by Kirk Hinrich’s 3-pointer with 5:07 left. Detroit rallied back to within 79-77 on Charlie Villanueva’s 3-pointer 16 seconds into the final quarter.
Atlanta rebounded to take a 92-81 lead on Horford’s basket and free throw with 7:26 left. The Pistons responded with eight straight points to pull within three on Stuckey’s three-point play with 4:48 left but got no closer.
Hinrich scored 15 points and Marvin Williams and Zaza Pachulia had 13 points apiece for Atlanta.
Greg Monroe added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons.
