Bobcats 88, Hawks 86

Stephen Jackson drained a 20-foot jumper at the buzzer to lift the visiting Charlotte Bobcats to an 88-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.

After Jackson’s jumper gave the Bobcats the lead with 1:04 left in the fourth quarter, the Hawks knotted it up on a basket by Al Horford. Joe Johnson missed an opportunity to give Atlanta the lead with eight seconds remaining, setting up Charlotte for one last play.

Jackson finished with 32 points, Shaun Livingston added 22 and Gerald Wallace collected 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Bobcats, who trailed 52-39 at the half after allowing the Hawks to go on an 18-0 run in the second quarter.

Charlotte chipped away after the break, closing the third quarter on a 16-2 spurt to make it 72-68 heading into the final 12 minutes.

The teams went back and forth in the final frame, with the Bobcats grabbing an 82-79 edge before Atlanta scored five straight to regain the lead.

Josh Smith scored 28 points and Horford finished with 16 and 10 boards for the Hawks, who have dropped two straight following a three-game winning streak.
