Mavericks 94, Jazz 77
Jason Terry scored 22 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 19 as the Dallas Mavericks registered a 94-77 victory over the host Utah Jazz on Saturday.
Terry had four 3-point baskets as part of a 6-of-7 shooting performance as Dallas (51-21) won its third straight game and pulled within one game of the second-place Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference.
Al Jefferson scored 21 points for Utah (36-38), which lost its fifth straight contest and fell 4 1/2 games behind Memphis for the final playoff spot in the West.
Terry had 16 second-half points and helped fuel the fourth-quarter run in which the Mavericks pulled away with 13 consecutive points.
Dallas trailed 70-68 after Utah’s Raja Bell hit a 20-footer with 6:22 to play. But J.J. Barea and Terry hit back-to-back 3-pointers to start the decisive run that was culminated by Tyson Chandler’s three-point play with 3:49 remaining.
Utah led 56-49 on Paul Millsap’s two free throws with 3:58 left in the third quarter before Dallas finished the quarter on a 9-2 run.The Mavericks outscored Utah 36-17 in the fourth quarter and held the Jazz to 30 second-half points.
C.J. Miles scored 16 points and Millsap added 15 for Utah.
