Nets 90, Wizards 84

Deron Williams had 23 points, eight rebounds and eight assists as the New Jersey Nets stormed back from 21 points behind for a 90-84 victory over the host Washington Wizards in the season opener for both teams Monday night.

Kris Humphries added 21 points and 16 rebounds to help New Jersey post a dominant 58-39 edge on the boards and beat the Wizards for only the second time in the last nine meetings.

The Nets erased a 21-point second-quarter deficit but saw the Wizards battle back with an 11-0 spurt to take a 74-66 lead early in the fourth quarter.

New Jersey responded with a 14-2 run to take an 80-76 lead on Williams' 3-pointer with 3:59 to play and extended the margin to 87-79 on another 3-pointer from Anthony Morrow with 97 seconds left.

Morrow finished with 16 points and was joined in double figures by center Johan Petro with 11.

Nick Young came off the bench to score a team-high 16 points for the Wizards, but he had to leave the game with a foot injury before returning in the fourth quarter.

Point guard John Wall added 13 points, eight rebounds and six assists for Washington.
