Lakers 90, Jazz 87 (OT)

Kobe Bryant scored 40 points to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to their first road win of the season, a 90-87 overtime victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night.

The Lakers (8-4) put an end to Utah's five-game home winning streak.

Bryant - who scored 48 on Tuesday - had 20 points by halftime and 31 through three quarters, making 11 of 19 shots to that point.

Bryant didn't score again until 2:31 remaining in regulation for a 76-71 Lakers lead. Utah (6-4) tied the score at 76 on two free throws and a 3-pointer by Josh Howard.

Bryant sank a jumper but Paul Millsap answered with a tip-in with 21.4 seconds remaining, and Bryant missed a long jumper from the right wing with one second left that would have given the Lakers the win.

Millsap took over early in overtime with two steals, a slam and 20-foot jumper for a four-point Utah lead. After Bryant and Josh Howard traded 3-pointers, Pau Gasol made two free throws and buried a 3-pointer on a feed from Bryant for an 86-85 lead.

Bryant sealed things a short time later with two free throws.

Gasol added 14 points and 11 boards in the victory.

Millsap led Utah (6-4) with 29 points and nine rebounds. Howard scored 18 and Al Jefferson had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
