Hawks 97, Bucks 92
Josh Smith's 3-pointer with 41.9 seconds remaining broke a tie and lifted the Atlanta Hawks past the host Milwaukee Bucks 97-92 on Monday night.
Joe Johnson scored a game-high 28 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter as Atlanta (12-6) won the opener of a five-game road trip. Smith scored 19 points for the Hawks, who have won eight of 11.
Brandon Jennings led Milwaukee (6-10) with 21 points and 11 assists. Mike Dunleavy added a season-high 17 points for the Bucks, who were coming off back-to-back road wins over New York and Miami.
Smith's clutch shot came after Drew Gooden's 3-pointer with 1:02 remaining tied the game at 88. Jennings' layup with 25.5 seconds remaining cut the lead to one, but Johnson hit two free throws with 16.9 seconds to go.
Milwaukee committed a turnover and Atlanta put the game away at the foul line.
Smith also had 12 rebounds for Atlanta.
