Spurs 104, Hornets 102

Tim Duncan hit a running hook shot from the foul line with 1.4 seconds remaining to give the San Antonio Spurs a 104-102 win over the New Orleans Hornets at New Orleans Arena Monday.

San Antonio (11-7) avoided a third straight loss and picked up its eighth win in the last 10 meetings with New Orleans (3-14), which has lost eight straight outings.

Duncan, after being given the night off in the loss to Houston on Saturday, looked fresh versus the Hornets. He scored 16 of his 28 points in the first half and was clutch down the stretch, tipping in an offensive rebound and knocking down a jumper to keep the Spurs ahead by four points with just over two minutes remaining in the game

Tony Parker posted a double-double in the first half and finished with 20 points and 17 assists – a new career high for the 10-year veteran. He is the first NBA player to post 20 points and 17 assists in a game this season

Carl Landry tipped in a missed Jarrett Jack layup to tie the game at 102-102 with 5.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Landry scored 18 points off the bench and missed a long 3-pointer at the end of regulation.

Jack led the Hornets with 26 points, knocking down mid-range jumpers in the closing minutes to keep New Orleans in the game. Trevor Ariza scored 12 of his 18 points in the first two quarters

The Hornets went 12 for 13 from the foul line and topped the century mark for the first time this season.
