DeMar DeRozan and Rudy Gay scored 24 points apiece as Toronto beat host Washington to match a season best with its fifth straight victory.
Kyle Lowry had 11 points and 10 assists and John Lucas III added 10 points as the Raptors improved to 6-2 since acquiring Gay from the Memphis Grizzlies in a three-team deal.
Bradley Beal scored 25 points, Martell Webster tallied 16 and Emeka Okafor added 12 for Washington, which lost its second straight game following a four-game winning streak.
The Wizards twice pulled within four points early in the final quarter but Toronto thwarted the challenges. Gay’s 3-pointer gave the Raptors a 90-79 edge with 2:21 left and Washington didn’t trail by fewer than six the remainder of the contest.
DeRozan had 15 first-half points and Gay added 14 as Toronto took a 55-46 halftime lead. The game was tied at 29 three-plus minutes into the second quarter before the Raptors went ahead to stay.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington has held 11 consecutive opponents under 100 points. … Toronto racked up 10 steals with DeRozan and Gay recording three apiece. … Wizards PG John Wall committed seven of Washington’s 17 turnovers and was just 1-of-12 from the field while scoring nine points.
