Arron Afflalo scored a game-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting and three players registered double-doubles as Orlando routed visiting Detroit to snap a three-game losing streak.
Nikola Vucevic chipped in with 20 points and 11 rebounds while rookie Victor Oladipo came off the bench to record 16 points and a career-best 11 assists for the Magic. Tobias Harris chipped in with 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Glen Davis tallied 14 points as Orlando won for the first time in six games at home.
Brandon Jennings scored 18 of his 21 points in the first half for the Pistons, who lost for only the second time in nine road contests. Will Bynum recorded 18 points off the bench while Andre Drummond contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds for his 22nd double-double of the season for Detroit.
Davis made 4-of-5 shots from the field for eight points and Orlando scored eight of the last 10 to build a 26-21 lead after one quarter. Oladipo had 10 points and seven assists in the second quarter as the Magic led by as much as 12 before settling for a 55-48 edge at intermission.
Afflalo’s 3-pointer ignited an 11-0 run in the third quarter to push the advantage to 20 and the Magic led by 85-66 going into the final 12 minutes. Detroit could not get closer than 15 in the fourth quarter as Orlando finished up shooting 52.9 percent from the field with a 58-48 edge in points in the paint.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Magic G Ronnie Price, playing for only the second time in eight games, had all of his seven points in the second quarter. … Detroit F Josh Smith, who came in averaging almost 24 points the previous six games, was held to five on 2-of-13 shooting. … Magic G E’Twaun Moore missed his third consecutive game with a bruised thigh.
