Bulls 82, Knicks 81

Derrick Rose scored 18 points and sank the decisive basket over two defenders with 5.7 seconds left in his first home game in 17-plus months to lift Chicago past New York.

Rose floated a short shot over the defense of Raymond Felton and Tyson Chandler to help the Bulls prevail after blowing a 10-point final-quarter lead. The Knicks had two chances to win but Carmelo Anthony missed a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining and Chandler’s putback attempt was off the mark.

Luol Deng added 17 points and Joakim Noah grabbed 15 rebounds for Chicago, which was 1-of-14 shooting in the final quarter prior to Rose’s game-winning shot. Anthony had 22 points and six steals and Chandler collected 19 rebounds and four blocked shots for New York, which shot just 36 percent from the field.

The Knicks trailed 76-66 after Rose’s hoop with 7:52 to play before rolling off 12 straight points. Anthony’s 12-foot turnaround gave New York the lead with 4:09 left and the Knicks were ahead 81-80 after Chandler made one of two free throws with 10.9 seconds to go.

Chicago had a 43-38 halftime lead and extended its lead to 66-53 on Deng’s basket with just over four minutes left in the third. The Bulls led by 10 entering the final stanza.
