Nick Calathes scored 18 points, including five straight that gave Memphis the lead for good in the fourth quarter, to help edge Washington for the ninth straight time at home.

Marc Gasol also recorded 18 points while Courtney Lee and James Johnson added 13 apiece for the Grizzlies, who led by as many as 16 in the second half. Zach Randolph chipped in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Washington's Bradley Beal registered a career-high 37 points, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, but missed a jumper that would have tied it with 13 seconds left. Nene collected 17 points while team scoring leader John Wall was held to a season-low five points on 2-of-10 shooting for Washington.

Beal tallied eight points as Washington opened the fourth quarter with a 12-1 run for an 82-80 lead with just under six minutes left. Calathes answered with a basket and a three-point play to ignite a 7-0 burst and the Wizards could not recover as Wall missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Johnson scored six during a 12-2 run that gave Memphis a 10-point lead in the second quarter before the Grizzlies built their advantage to 52-39 at intermission. Marcin Gortat scored 10 as the Wizards trimmed a 16-point deficit to four in the third quarter before Memphis pushed its lead to 79-70 going into the final 12 minutes.
