Stephen Curry buried the game-winning jumper in overtime and finished with 23 points and 10 assists as Golden State edged host Dallas.
Klay Thompson knocked down four 3-pointers en route to 27 points and Jermaine O’Neal scored 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting for the Warriors. Jordan Crawford added 19 points off the bench and Andre Iguodala collected 16 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as Golden State pulled within 1 1/2 games of Portland for the No. 5 spot in the Western Conference.
Dirk Nowitzki went for 33 points and 11 rebounds and Monta Ellis scored 27 points to lead the Mavericks, who dropped a half-game behind Phoenix and Memphis for the No. 8 spot in the West. Brandan Wright scored 14 points and Vince Carter chipped in 12 for Dallas.
Ellis scored five points during an 11-2 push that left the Mavericks on top 102-97 with 3:24 to play in regulation. Thompson’s 3-pointer with a minute left locked it up at 108 to force overtime before O‘Neal made the tying basket with 28 seconds left in the extra period and blocked Ellis at the other end to set up Curry’s game-winner.
Dallas took the lead on back-to-back 3-pointers by Carter in the second quarter before Nowitzki went to work, scoring 11 straight points to cap a 16-point quarter and send his team into the break up 62-53. Curry took his turn in the third quarter, burying a 3-pointer to knot it at 76 and scoring 11 points in the frame to put Golden State on top 85-81 heading to the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Warriors were without C Andrew Bogut (pelvic contusion) and F David Lee (hamstring). … Crawford hit five of Golden State’s 15 3-pointers while Nowitzki knocked down six of Dallas’ 14 from beyond the arc. … The Mavericks kick off a four-game road trip at the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday.
