John Wall scored 27 points and dished out 11 assists as host Washington downed Detroit to stay unbeaten at home.
Rasual Butler added 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting off the bench for the Wizards, who have started out 6-2 for the first time since the 1975-76 season. Marcin Gortat collected 14 points and 13 rebounds while Paul Pierce recorded 13 points and eight boards for Washington.
Brandon Jennings led the way with a season-high 32 points and 10 assists for the Pistons, who have dropped three games in a row. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope poured in 20 points, including four 3-pointers, while Greg Monroe chipped in 18 points and nine rebounds.
Jennings made six of his first seven shots to give Detroit a 34-21 advantage and he led all scorers with 21 points as the Pistons settled for a 59-57 halftime edge. Wall hit a runner to put the Wizards ahead by seven as they opened up the third quarter with a 13-4 spurt.
Caldwell-Pope sank two 3-pointers during an 11-2 surge to put Detroit back on top 74-72. Wall nailed a jumper to give the Wizards a 101-100 edge before Butler hit two clutch free throws with four seconds left to secure the win.
