Goran Dragic had 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting and recorded a season-high 13 assists as visiting Phoenix snapped Dallas’ five-game winning streak.
Markieff Morris contributed 22 points and 10 rebounds and Eric Bledsoe had 19 points and seven assists for the Suns, who beat the Mavericks for only the fourth time in the past 17 meetings. Gerald Green added 15 points and fellow reserve Marcus Morris scored 11 for Phoenix, which shot 56.3 percent from the field.
Monta Ellis scored 33 points on 14-of-22 shooting for Dallas, which dropped to 15-1 when scoring 100 or more points. Tyson Chandler had 15 points and 18 rebounds and Chandler Parsons also scored 15 but Dirk Nowitzki had just 10 points on 2-of-10 shooting.
Phoenix used an 8-0 burst early in the fourth quarter with Dragic’s hoop culminating it and increasing the lead to 103-89. The Mavericks crept within eight with 1:43 to play before Dragic drained a jumper 21 seconds later and Marcus Morris nailed a 3-pointer with 56.5 seconds left to make it 116-105.
The Suns scored 40 first-quarter points and shot 65 percent from the field in the first half en route to a 69-57 halftime lead. Phoenix led by 12 after Green’s 3-pointer with 4:39 remaining in the third quarter before Dallas cut its deficit to 93-86 entering the final stanza.
