Damian Lillard scored 25 points and LaMarcus Aldridge had 22 points and 11 rebounds as host Portland held off Utah.
Wesley Matthews added 21 points as the Trail Blazers snapped a three-game losing streak. Nicolas Batum contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists as Portland won for only the third time in 11 games.
Gordon Hayward scored 27 points and Derrick Favors added 20 for the Jazz, who lost for the eighth time in 12 games. Trey Burke scored 18, Enes Kanter had 16, and Rudy Gobert collected 15 rebounds.
Matthews drained two 3-pointers during an 8-0 burst that saw Portland grab a 98-89 lead with 3:26 remaining before the Jazz battled back and pulled within 99-96 on Hayward’s 3-pointer with 1:24 left. Utah cut the deficit to two on a 3-pointer by Joe Ingles with 9.7 seconds remaining and to one on a 3-pointer by Burke with 0.9 seconds left before Lillard purposely missed the second of two free throws with 0.4 seconds to go to end it.
Utah finished the first half with a 12-2 surge to hold a 47-44 lead at the break. Portland began the second half with an 18-4 burst to lead by 11 and the Jazz answered with a tying 11-0 burst before the Trail Blazers took a 72-70 edge into the final stanza.
