Andre Drummond had 22 points and 13 rebounds as host Detroit defeated Atlanta to avoid a four-game season sweep.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 18 points and John Lucas III scored 15 as the Pistons won for the sixth time in eight games. Anthony Tolliver had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Reggie Jackson contributed 12 points and 11 assists for Detroit, which made 11 3-point baskets and accumulated 11 steals.

Thabo Sefolosha scored a season-high 19 points and Al Horford added 16 on 8-of-10 shooting for the Hawks, who failed to equal the franchise record of 57 wins. Mike Muscala collected a career-high 13 rebounds, Shelvin Mack scored 12 points and Kyle Korver had 11.

Atlanta trailed by 11 early in the final stanza before it crept within 87-82 on Jeff Teague’s basket with 7:26 remaining. Tolliver hit a 3-pointer and Lucas hit back-to-back jumpers as part of a 9-0 surge as Detroit moved ahead by 14 points with 4:24 left and cruised the rest of the way.

The Pistons held an 11-point lead in the opening quarter before Atlanta recovered to move ahead by three on Kent Bazemore’s 3-pointer with two minutes left in the half. Detroit scored the final five of the half for a 52-50 lead and later went on a 14-0 run – the final seven of the third for a 76-72 lead and the first seven of the fourth – to again take an 11-point lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Korver made three 3-pointers to raise his season total to 205, 26 shy of the franchise mark held by Mookie Blaylock (1995-96). … Drummond was 8-of-11 shooting and is 29-of-37 over the past three games. … Atlanta backup PG Dennis Schroder (toe) was held out after being injured on Monday.
