Hornets 127, Kings 122 (OT)
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Guard Kemba Walker scored a season-high 39 points, including 21 in the fourth quarter, as the Charlotte Hornets rallied from a 21-point second-half deficit to beat the Sacramento Kings 127-122 in overtime on Monday night.
Walker hit 16 of 23 shots from the field, with four 3-pointers, including three in the dramatic fourth-quarter rally.
The Hornets trailed 89-68 with 3:27 left in the third quarter and were down 91-74 going into the fourth. But Charlotte outscored Sacramento 31-14 in the fourth quarter and 15-10 in the extra five minutes.
The Hornets (8-6) won their third straight and their sixth straight at home.
Guard Nicolas Batum added 18 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. The Hornets also got 14 points from guard Jeremy Lin, including eight in overtime; 12 points from forward Cody Zeller; 11 points from guard Jeremy Lamb and 10 points from center Al Jefferson.
Forward DeMarcus Cousins led the Kings (5-10) with 30 points and 11 rebounds, but he did not play in overtime after suffering a back injury late in the fourth quarter.
The Kings also got 28 points and 10 rebounds from forward Rudy Gay, 17 points from guard Marco Belinelli, 14 points and a season-high 20 assists from guard Rajon Rondo, and 10 points each from forward Ben McLemore and center Kosta Koufos.
Walker appeared to give the Hornets the win with a driving layup with 0.7 of a second left in regulation. But Gay forced overtime with an alley-oop basket at the regulation buzzer.
Forward Frank Kaminsky hit a 3-pointer to give the Hornets the lead for good in overtime, and Lin took over from there.
NOTES: F Rudy Gay was back in the Kings' starting lineup after missing Saturday's 97-91 win at Orlando because of a shoulder strain. ... The Hornets got F P.J. Hairston and F Cody Zeller back. Hairston had missed three games with a quad contusion and Zeller missed Friday's win over Philadelphia with a sprained ankle. ... Hornets G Troy Daniels missed the game for what coach Steve Clifford said was a personal matter. ... The Kings were playing the fourth game of a five-game road trip. They will close out the trip Wednesday at Milwaukee. ... The Hornets were playing the third game of a seven-game homestand. They were coming off a 113-88 win over Philadelphia Friday. ... Kings F DeMarcus Cousins came into the game averaging 27.7 points and 11.2 rebounds, although he doesn't count among league leaders because he had played in only nine games. ... Entering Monday, the Hornets led the NBA in fewest turnovers, and were second in the league in fewest fouls. They have not had a player foul out all season. ... Kings G Rajon Rondo came into the game leading the NBA with four triple-doubles this season, and was second in assists at 10.1. ... The Hornets will be home again Wednesday against Washington. They'll face Cleveland, Milwaukee and Golden State later on the home stand.
