Mavericks 107, Hornets 96
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Chandler Parsons scored 24 points, hitting three clutch 3-pointers down the stretch, and two streaks came to an end as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Charlotte Hornets 107-96 Monday night.
The Mavericks (34-33) snapped a five-game losing streak and ended the Hornets' seven-game winning streak in the process.
Dallas let a 19-point halftime lead disappear completely, but then came from behind in the fourth quarter and led by as many as 13 down the stretch.
It was a night when the officiating crew of Marc Davis, Steve Anderson and Eric Lewis drew continuous complaints from both teams. Four technical fouls were called in the first half.
Dallas forward Dirk Nowitzki finished with 23 points and 11 rebounds. The Mavs also got 15 points from Deron Williams, including 11 in the fourth quarter, and 12 points each from Devin Harris and David Lee.
The Hornets (37-29) were looking to go 10 games over .500 for the first time all season. They had won 13 of their previous 15.
Kemba Walker led the Hornets with 25 points and nine assists. Nicolas Batum scored 20, Marvin Williams 19, and Courtney Lee 12.
The Hornets shot just 28.6 percent from the field in the first half and finished at 42.1 percent. Dallas shot 48.3 percent overall.
Dallas led 22-18 after one quarter, 52-33 at halftime, and 71-65 after three quarters. Charlotte scored the first eight points of the fourth to take a 73-71 lead before the Mavericks rallied.
NOTES: Hornets G Kemba Walker was selected the Eastern Conference's player of the week Monday, his second such honor of the season and the fourth of his career. Walker averaged 27.8 points in four wins last week. ... This was a matchup of the two least turnover-prone teams in the NBA. The Mavs lead the league at 12.7 per game, and the Hornets are second at 12.9. ... The Hornets were playing their fifth home game in eight days as part of a seven-game homestand. ... Through the weekend, the Mavs had played an NBA-high 11 overtime games this season. ... The Hornets will host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. ...
