Foye buzzer beater lifts Nets past Hornets
NEW YORK -- Randy Foye hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer as the Brooklyn Nets snapped a five-game losing streak with a wild 120-118 victory over the Charlotte Hornets Monday night.
The Nets won the game when Foye took the inbounds pass from Bojan Bogdanovic. Foye moved a few steps to his left by the top of the key with Kemba Walker draped on him and quickly released the shot just before the buzzer sounded.
He then raced over the bench and was mobbed on the floor by his jubilant teammates. Coach Kenny Atkinson raised his arms in triumph and then joined in the celebration.
The Nets needed Foye's dramatic shot because of what unfolded on the previous possession.
Tyler Zeller converted a putback layup with 2.3 seconds left after Walker's drive was blocked by Trevor Booker and the Nets were unable to corral the rebound.
The Nets rallied from a 14-point third-quarter deficit and held a 117-111 lead on consecutive 3-pointers by Sean Kilpatrick and Bogdanovic in a span of 30 seconds. Charlotte came right back with a four-point play by Nicolas Batum and another 3-pointer by Batum.
Bogdanovic came off the bench for the first time and led the Nets with 26 points, Kilpatrick added 23 and Brook Lopez contributed 11 of his 20 in the fourth quarter.
Batum led the Hornets with 24 points and Jeremy Lamb added 17. Walker was held to 15 as he shot 6 of 17.
