Gobert's tip-in at OT buzzer sends Jazz past Kings
SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Rudy Gobert finished with 24 rebounds, the last one a tip on a missed shot as time expired in overtime, and the Utah Jazz stunned the Sacramento Kings 110-109 on Sunday at the Golden 1 Center.
Willie Cauley-Stein made two free throws with 8.9 seconds left to put the Kings ahead 109-108. After a timeout, Jazz guard George Hill tried to score on a dribble drive into the lane. Hill's floater came up short, but Gobert reached up just outside the basket cylinder and tipped it in.
Referees originally ruled that Gobert's tip came after the final buzzer but reversed the decision after a replay review.
Gobert finished with 16 points and Rodney Hood had a team-high 28 points in his first game back after a two-game absence for Utah.
Gordon Hayward added 23 points as the Jazz (39-24) won their second straight.
Ty Lawson scored 19 points and hit a collection of big shots to pace the Kings (25-37), but Sacramento lost its fourth consecutive game. The Kings have not produced a 20-point scorer in any of them.
Utah's Joe Ingles hit a 3-pointer off a kickback pass to the right wing that drew Utah within 106-105 after Sacramento's Darren Collison scored on a floater and fed Cauley-Stein for a layup to give the Kings a 107-102 lead.
Hill then scored on a layup with 33.3 seconds left after Cauley-Stein missed two free throws to make it 108-107.
The Kings seemed poised to end their losing streak in regulation. Kosta Koufos' finger flip and Lawson's stop-and-pump jumper from the top right corner of the key put Sacramento ahead 95-88 with 1:51 left in the fourth quarter.
But Hayward scored five of Utah's next seven points, and the Jazz closed regulation with a 9-2 run.
Collison finished with 18 points and Affalo had 17 for the Kings. Koufos totaled 12 points and 10 rebounds but fouled out in overtime.
