Flyers 5, Sabres 2
Scott Hartnell and Danny Briere combined for three goals and four assists as the Philadelphia Flyers extended their winning streak to four games with a 5-2 road triumph over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday.
Ville Leino and captain Mike Richards also scored and defenseman Kimmo Timonen notched a pair of assists for the Flyers, whose road streaks grew to three straight and eight of 10.
Leino became the eighth Flyer to reach the 10-goal mark when he snapped a 2-2 deadlock at 2:17 of the third period. The Detroit Red Wings also have eight players with at least 10 tallies this season.
Richards created some breathing room by beating Ryan Miller on a breakaway with 8:24 to play. After getting around Buffalo defenseman Andrej Sekera at Philadelphia's blue line, Richards raced in and slid a backhander between the reigning Vezina Trophy winner's left skate and the right post for a 4-2 bulge.
Hartnell sealed the win and completed his two-goal effort with an empty-netter with less than two minutes left, capping five unanswered tallies for the visitors.
Buffalo built a 2-0 lead midway through the first period as Paul Gaustad scored five minutes into the contest and Cody McCormick, who added an assist, tallied at 9:59. The Flyers halved the deficit with 7:19 remaining in the session when Hartnell converted a power-play chance for his 13th goal of the season.
Former Sabres co-captain Briere, who collected three assists, forged a tie late in the second. After receiving a cross-slot pass from Timonen, he whipped a shot into the top right corner of the net with 1:49 left for his 22nd tally of 2010-11 and sixth in seven games.
Rookie Sergei Bobrovsky made 38 saves for Philadelphia, which has won five of its last six visits to Buffalo.
Miller stopped 28 shots for the Sabres, who lost in regulation for the first time in six games (4-1-1).
