James Neal broke a tie 8:51 into the third period and the Dallas Stars held on to earn a 3-2 home victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.

Neal's 16th goal of the campaign lifted the Stars to their fourth win in the past five games. The go-ahead marker came just 1:13 after Ryan Jones had tied the score for the Oilers, who have lost nine of their last 10 contests.

Neal has scored in consecutive games for Dallas after scoring just once in his previous 13 games.

Brenden Morrow and Jamie Benn added goals for the Stars, who have won three consecutive meetings against Edmonton. Benn's goal was his third in the last two games, and his fifth in five career meetings with the Oilers.

Jean-Francois Jacques had the other goal for Edmonton.
