Lightning 3, Capitals 0
Dwayne Roloson recorded his second shutout in four games and Sean Bergenheim collected a goal and an assist as the Tampa Bay Lightning reclaimed sole possession of first place in the Southeast Division with a 3-0 triumph over the visiting Washington Capitals on Wednesday.
Dominic Moore and Simon Gagne also tallied as Tampa Bay (26-13-5) improved to 13-3-2 at home this season. With the win, the Lightning now have 57 points while the Capitals (24-13-7) remain at 55.
Roloson stopped all 23 shots he faced to secure his 26th career shutout and second of the season. The 41-year-old Ontario native also blanked the Capitals on Jan. 4.
The netminder turned aside nine shots in both the first and second periods, and five in the third to improve to 3-1-0 with the Lightning. He was even credited with an assist on Moore's tally just 3:58 into the contest.
Bergenheim then doubled the advantage with 3:56 remaining in the session, and Gagne gave Tampa Bay a three-goal cushion by scoring with 1:42 left in the second period. For Gagne, it was his fourth goal of the season - and first since Dec. 18.
