Oilers 5, Sharks 2
Rookie Taylor Hall scored two goals and added an assist and Devan Dubnyk made 41 saves to pace the visiting Edmonton Oilers to 5-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.
Andrew Cogliano, Dustin Penner and Linus Omark also scored while Ales Hemsky added four assists for the Oilers, who put an end to a two-game skid while extending San Jose’s losing streak to six games.
Cogliano opened the scoring by beating Antero Niittymaki over the shoulder for his fifth of the year in the first period. Penner made it 2-0 with his 13th of the year from Hall at 3:50 of the second period before Hall also buried his 13th at the 15:36 mark.
Joe Thornton cut the lead with his 11th in the third period while San Jose was on the power play. Omark replied with his second NHL goal midway through the final session. Ryane Clowe scored his 12th goal of the season on the power play in the last minute of regulation, but Hall added an empty-net goal with just two seconds remaining.
Niittymaki made 24 saves in a losing effort.
