Canadiens 3, Maple Leafs 0

Carey Price turned aside 27 shots and the Montreal Canadiens snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.

David Desharnais had a goal and an assist and Benoit Pouliot and captain Brian Gionta scored 1 minute, 40 seconds apart midway through the second period as the Canadiens averted their first four-game skid since December 2009.

Price, who surrendered eight goals to the Boston Bruins in his last start, recorded his sixth shutout and blanked Toronto for the second time this season.

It’s the first time the Canadiens shut out the Maple Leafs twice in a season since the 1967-68 campaign.

Maple Leafs goaltender Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 36 saves in losing to the Canadiens for the first time in three starts this season.

Montreal dominated play with a 39-27 edge in shots on goal in sending Toronto to its second straight loss while evening the season series at two games apiece.
