Blues 3, Canucks 2
Alex Steen capitalized on a miscue by Roberto Luongo in the first period to snap a tie and the St. Louis Blues went on to post a 3-2 home victory over the league-leading Vancouver Canucks on Monday.
Andy McDonald recorded a goal and an assist, Patrik Berglund also scored and Jaroslav Halak made 23 saves for the Blues, who registered just their third win in 10 games.
The loss was Luongo's first in regulation since Dec. 5, also against St. Louis. He had gone 16-0-5 since that setback.
With the game even at 1-1, Luongo attempted to make a pass to a teammate in the right faceoff circle. Steen intercepted the puck and backhanded it into a vacant net with 7:43 left in the opening session, ending his 11-game goalless drought and putting St. Louis ahead for good.
Berglund doubled the lead late in the second, converting a power-play opportunity for his fourth tally in five contests.
Captain Henrik Sedin and Jannik Hansen scored, Alex Burrows extended his point streak to 10 games with an assist and Luongo made 31 saves for the Canucks, who had won seven of eight.
