Maple Leafs 3, Penguins 2 (OT)
All-Star Phil Kessel scored the tying goal just over five minutes into the third period and set up Mikhail Grabovski's winner 42 seconds into overtime as the Toronto Maple Leafs extended their point streak to eight games Wednesday with a 3-2 home triumph over the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins.
Nikolai Kulemin also tallied, defenseman Carl Gunnarsson set up two scores and Grabovski added an assist for the Maple Leafs, who improved to 5-0-3 in their last eight overall and 7-1-4 in their last 12 at home.
Kessel forged a 2-2 tie early in the third with his eighth goal in as many games and helped Toronto to victory in overtime. Kessel made a nifty pass from the left faceoff circle to Grabovski, who beat All-Star Marc-Andre Fleury from alone in front for his third tally in 11 contests.
Defenseman Matt Niskanen, who also had an assist, beat rookie James Reimer with a one-timer from the blue line 6:52 into the game for his first goal of the season - and as a Penguin. Kulemin knotted the game just over seven minutes later with his 23rd tally, but Chris Conner regained the lead for Pittsburgh with a backhander on a breakaway at 6:40 of the second.
Reimer made 27 saves while Fleury stopped 17 shots for the Penguins, who have lost nine of 12 overall and six of eight on the road.
