Jason Garrison scored 4:44 into overtime to give the host Florida Panthers a 4-3 victory over the faltering Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
The Lightning’s Simon Gagne tied the game at 3 when he banked a shot off goaltender Scott Clemmensen with 2:05 left after Ryan Carter and Niclas Bergfors gave Florida a 3-1 lead with goals 2:56 apart early in the third period.
Steven Stamkos scored his league-leading 43rd goal for the Lightning, who are within one point of Pittsburgh for fourth in the East and three points of Washington in the Southeast Division.
Tampa Bay, which is 1-5-1 in its last seven games, lost consecutive games to the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. It lost 2-1 at home to Ottawa on Friday.
Clemmensen made 35 saves and David Booth scored in the second period for the Panthers, who have won two of three.
Vincent Lecavalier’s 5-on-3 power-play goal with 7:25 left made it 3-2.
Stamkos tied it at 1 when he beat Clemmensen with a 50-foot slap shot for his NHL-leading 17th power-play goal at 14:10 of the second period. He has two goals in his last seven games and three in his last 15.
