Coyotes 5, Ducks 2

Lauri Korpikoski scored twice and Ilya Bryzgalov turned aside 36 shots as the Phoenix Coyotes skated to a 5-2 road triumph over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday in a battle of Pacific Division rivals.

Captain Shane Doan had a goal and two assists and Taylor Pyatt and defenseman David Schlemko also tallied for Phoenix (36-23-11), which moved into a tie with the Los Angeles Kings (39-25-5) for fourth place in the ultra-competitive Western Conference standings.

Winners of three of their last four games, the Coyotes joined the Kings by being only three points behind the division-leading San Jose Sharks (39-22-8).

Just 61 seconds after Anaheim's Corey Perry tied the score at 2-2 with his team-leading 36th goal of the season and second of the contest, Korpikoski netted his second of the night with 3:13 remaining in the second period.

Schlemko tallied exactly 2 1/2 minutes later and Bryzgalov shut down his former team the rest of the way to preserve the victory.

Dan Ellis permitted four goals on 21 shots and Ray Emery stopped all nine shots he faced for Anaheim (37-27-5), which fell for just the second time in seven contests.
