Keith Yandle and Michal Rozsival scored 19 seconds apart in the third period and the visiting Phoenix Coyotes won their third straight game by holding off the Calgary Flames, 4-3, on Tuesday night.
Lee Stempniak and Eric Belanger also scored goals and Vernon Fiddler had two assists for Phoenix, which swept the four-game season series with Calgary and vaulted into a tie with the Los Angeles Kings for the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
Mikael Backlund and Alex Tanguay scored third-period goals as Calgary whittled a three-goal deficit to one but couldn't push the equalizer past Phoenix goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov, who made 24 saves.
Olli Jokinen also scored and Rene Bourque had two assists for the Flames, who remained in the No. 8 spot in the West despite their third straight loss. Miikka Kiprusoff made 21 saves.
Calgary’s Jay Bouwmeester set an NHL record for defenseman by playing in his 496th consecutive game.
