Predators 3, Oilers 1
David Legwand recorded a goal and an assist as the Nashville Predators began their four-game homestand with a 3-1 victory over the reeling Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday.
Martin Erat and Patric Hornqvist also scored, defenseman Ryan Suter notched two assists and Pekka Rinne made 19 saves for the Predators (39-25-10), who moved ahead of idle Chicago into sixth place in the Western Conference with their fourth straight win and sixth in seven games.
Erat opened the scoring at 4:08 of the first period, tapping the puck into the net at the right post after a cross-crease pass from Joel Ward.
Hornqvist converted a power-play chance 3:32 later to end his eight-game goalless drought and Legwand made it 3-0 seven minutes into the middle session.
Legwand and Erat both have collected 12 points in their last 10 games.
Rookie Jordan Eberle scored a power-play goal in the second period and Devan Dubnyk stopped 27 shots for the Oilers, who have lost seven in a row overall and five straight on the road.
