Senators 2, Rangers 1 (SO)
Defenseman Erik Karlsson scored in the fifth round for the lone goal of the shootout as the visiting Ottawa Senators recorded a 2-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Thursday night.
Craig Anderson made 29 saves and Ryan Shannon netted his 10th goal of the season for the Senators (28-37-9), who have won three of their last four games.
Henrik Lundqvist made 29 saves for the Rangers (40-30-5), who saw their season-high five-game win streak come to an end. Brandon Prust scored his 12th of the campaign for New York.
Ottawa outshot the Rangers by a 16-14 margin in the first two periods and took a 1-0 lead into the third. Shannon converted a nifty cross-ice pass from Bobby Butler on the rush with 4:39 left in the second period.
Prust tied the game for the Rangers just 2:45 into the third period off a pass from defenseman Marc Staal. Staal had been tripped for a penalty call, but pushed the puck to Prust while on his knees.
Staal was back in the lineup after missing two games with a slight knee injury.
