Predators 4, Stars 2

Mike Fisher scored twice in the second period and Pekka Rinne turned aside 28 shots as the Nashville Predators recorded a 4-2 home victory over the Dallas Stars on Saturday.

David Legwand also scored twice and has six goals in as many games for Nashville (41-25-10), which has won six in a row and eight of its last nine.

The Predators remained in a tie for fifth in the Western Conference with the Los Angeles Kings (43-26-6), who posted a 4-1 triumph over the Colorado Avalanche earlier in the day.

After the teams exchanged first-period tallies, Fisher sandwiched a pair of goals just over seven minutes apart around Brenden Morrow's creative score. The Stars' captain was credited with his 28th goal of the season after the puck bounced off the top of Rinne's mask and into the net to tie the game 2-2.

Fisher's second tally and 17th of the season gave the Predators a 3-2 lead midway through the second period. Rinne shut down the Stars the rest of the way for his seventh win in eight outings.

Defenseman Alex Goligoski netted a power-play goal and Mike Ribeiro notched a pair of assists for Dallas (38-26-10), which has dropped five of its last six games.

Kari Lehtonen made his 15th straight start and finished with 28 saves.
