Kings 2, Oilers 0

Captain Dustin Brown scored two goals and Jonathan Bernier made 32 saves as the Los Angeles Kings extended their winning streak to four games by blanking the host Edmonton Oilers, 2-0, on Tuesday night.

Trevor Lewis assisted on both goals as the Kings (44-26-6) moved two points ahead of Nashville for fifth place in the Western Conference and sent the skidding Oilers (23-42-11) to their 10th consecutive loss.

Playing their first game since leading scorer Anze Kopitar suffered a broken ankle, the Kings got all the scoring they needed when Brown connected twice in the second period.

Bernier took care of the rest, turning aside 25 shots over the final two periods in winning his third straight game and recording his third shutout of the season.

Edmonton’s Nikolai Khabibulin had 31 saves, including 18 in the first period. Brown broke the scoreless deadlock by tapping the puck into an open net at 5:11 of the second.
