Defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk added a goal and an assist and Jaroslav Halak made 26 saves for the Blues (37-33-10), who are 5-1-1 in their last seven games. It was St. Louis' first victory over Colorado since April 12, 2009.

David Backes scored his 30th goal of the season 14:55 into the game, but Porter tied the game for the Avalanche 1:47 later after a nifty pass from Mark Olver.
Acquired in a trade from Colorado on Feb. 19, Shattenkirk gave St. Louis the lead for good with a power-play goal 4:07 into the second period.
Colorado was without its top-scoring defenseman John-Michael Liles (40 points), who suffered a concussion in the 2-1 loss against Calgary Sunday.
