Senators 3, Canadiens 2 (OT)
Filip Kuba scored at 1:16 of overtime as the Ottawa Senators continued their season-ending hot streak Thursday, edging the visiting Montreal Canadiens 3-2.
Ottawa (32-39-10) won for the seventh time in the past 11 games while preventing Montreal (43-30-8) from putting a valuable two points between itself and idle Buffalo in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The single point gives the Canadiens a two-point edge on the Sabres for sixth place, though Buffalo has a game in hand.
The Senators thought they had won in regulation when Bobby Butler's ninth goal of the season with 3:49 left in the third period put them up 2-1. Montreal forced extra time in dramatic fashion as Mike Cammalleri fired a shot past Senators netminder Craig Anderson with 11 seconds left in regulation and the Montreal net empty in favor of an extra attacker.
Jason Spezza had the other Ottawa goal while Brian Gionta had a second-period marker for Montreal, which went 4-1-1 against the Senators this season.
Anderson's 27-save performance earned him the win, while Montreal netminder Alex Auld stopped 29 shots in defeat.
