Devils 3, Kings 0
Johan Hedberg made 31 saves and Dainius Zubrus scored his first two goals of the season as the New Jersey Devils skated to a 3-0 victory over the host Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday.
Patrik Elias recorded a goal and an assist while Petr Sykora set up two tallies for New Jersey, which is 1-1-0 on its four-game road trip.
Hedberg turned aside eight shots in the first period, 10 in the second and 13 in the third en route to his 18th career shutout. The veteran Swede improved to 3-1-1 since Martin Brodeur went down with a shoulder injury in a shootout victory over Los Angeles on Oct. 13.
Zubrus began a spurt of three goals in a 5:14 span during the second period when the puck bounced off him in the crease and entered the net with 6:48 left.
After Elias converted a cross-slot pass from Sykora, Zubrus beat Jonathan Bernier with a slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle with 94 seconds remaining in the period.
Bernier stopped 20 shots as the Kings had their four-game winning streak snapped. Bernier made his second start of the season in place of Jonathan Quick, who has posted three consecutive shutouts.
