Kings 2, Sharks 0

Mike Richards continued his red-hot play with a goal and Jonathan Quick stopped all 33 shots he faced as the Los Angeles Kings blanked the visiting San Jose Sharks 2-0 Monday night.

Quick was busy but kept the Sharks at bay en route to his fourth shutout of the season, and the 18th of his career. The victory was just the eighth for the Kings in their last 27 home games against San Jose.

Ethan Moreau put the Kings in front at 8:37 of the opening period, directing a shot from just a bad angle that somehow got past San Jose netminder Antti Niemi. It was the first goal of the season for Morrow, who tallied 20 times a season ago.

Richards extended the advantage, swatting a Simon Gagne centering pass underneath Niemi at 4:16 of the second period. It was Richards' team-leading 11th goal of the season, and his ninth in the last 10 games.

Los Angeles thought it had gone ahead 3-0 six minutes into the third, but officials ruled that Kings defenseman Slava Voynov directed the puck into the net with his skate.

It didn't matter, as the Sharks couldn't solve Quick despite having a pair of power-plays in the final period.
