Kings 2, Blackhawks 0
Jonathan Quick recorded his fifth shutout of the season by turning aside all 38 shots he faced as the Los Angeles Kings secured their fifth win in seven outings with a 2-0 road triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
Trent Hunter and Jarret Stoll both scored for the second time in six contests for Los Angeles, which snapped a six-game losing skid to Chicago while improving to 3-0-1 under new coach Darryl Sutter.
After a scoreless first period, Hunter drew first blood 12:07 into the second. Hunter collected his own rebound and tucked the puck past Corey Crawford after a goal-mouth scramble to give the Kings the lead.
Mike Richards had an opportunity to double the advantage after he was taken down by captain Jonathan Toews. On the ensuing penalty shot, Richards elected to go to his backhand and was denied by Crawford.
Stoll gave Quick some breathing room just 1:16 into the third period after cleaning up a rebound off Justin Williams' shot and beating Crawford for his fourth goal of the season.
Quick did the rest from there to secure his 19th career shutout and improve to 3-9-1 in his career versus Chicago.
Crawford finished with 36 saves for Chicago, which saw its five-game home winning streak come to an end.
