Predators 2, Blues 1 (SO)
Martin Erat scored the only goal of the shootout in the fifth round as the Nashville Predators remained perfect against the St. Louis Blues this season with a 2-1 road triumph on Friday.
Matt Halischuk tallied in regulation and Pekka Rinne made 35 saves before stopping all five shots in the bonus format for Nashville, which improved to 3-0-0 against St. Louis this campaign.
Beginning the fifth round, Erat wristed the puck into the top right corner of the net to give the Predators the edge. Rinne denied defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk on the Blues' last chance, clinching Nashville's eighth win in 11 games.
St. Louis fell to 0-5 with just one goal scored in shootouts this campaign.
The Predators grabbed a 1-0 lead just 2:16 into the game. After Roman Josi was stopped by Jaroslav Halak after pouncing on a turnover in the right faceoff circle, Halischuk poked in a loose puck in the crease for his eighth goal of the season.
T.J. Oshie knotted the game with 6:20 remaining in the first period as he beat Rinne from the slot for his 12th tally.
Halak made 33 saves for St. Louis, which had its six-game home winning streak snapped and fell to 11-2-2 at Scottrade Center under coach Ken Hitchcock.
