Canadiens 7, Jets 3
Lars Eller scored four goals and added an assist, and Montreal scored three goals in a 50-second span of the third period to cruise past the visiting Winnipeg Jets 7-3 on Wednesday.
Eller’s second goal of the night sparked the Montreal outburst at 2:41 of the third period. Mike Cammalleri’s ninth of the season followed just 22 seconds later when his pass attempt went in off Zach Bogosian.
Eller then tapped in his hat trick goal after Andrei Kostitsyn carried the puck around the net, then cut back in front before dishing the puck to his waiting teammate.
Eller’s fourth goal, and eighth of the season, came on a penalty shot with nine minutes left.
Winnipeg Captain Andrew Ladd scored his 13th of the season late in the third period.
After Tim Stapleton opened the scoring for the Jets early in the first
period, Josh Gorges and Eller tallied twice for the Habs in 43 seconds. Tomas Kaberle’s first goal as a Canadien gave the Habs a 3-1 second-period lead.
Blake Wheeler extended his point streak to six games for the Jets at 17:51 of the middle frame when he tipped Bogosian’s power play point shot past Carey Price.
