Blues 3, Wild 2 (SO)
Kevin Shattenkirk scored the lone shootout goal and Jaroslav Halak made 29 saves as the St. Louis Blues defeated the visiting Minnesota Wild 3-2 on Saturday.
Shattenkirk waited for Josh Harding to commit to a move then snapped a shot over him.
Harding had 47 saves in regulation as the Blues had a season high 49 shots.
It was the Blues' first overtime win in six attempts. St. Louis improved to 10-0-2 on home ice in its last 12 games.
Minnesota’s Jared Spurgeon tied the game at 2 with a power play marker at 16:32 of the middle frame. The defenseman looked to make a pass from the point, fooling a St. Louis defender and opening a shot lane. It was his third goal of the season.
St. Louis tallied twice in the second period. David Perron scored his third of the season at 8:04 and Alex Pietrangelo scored his seventh of the season on the power play at 10:39. Pietrangelo extended his point streak to six games with the goal.
Wild rookie David McIntyre scored his first NHL goal, a shorthanded marker at 7:13 of the first period.
