Patrick Kane had a goal and an assist and captain Jonathan Toews scored his 27th goal of the season as the Chicago Blackhawks won their third straight game, defeating the visiting Florida Panthers 3-1 on Friday.
Ray Emery made 18 saves to improve to 11-3-2 this season. His shutout bid was ruined 43 seconds into the third period when Jason Garrison scored his 13th goal of the season on the power play.
The Blackhawks held a 2-0 lead after the first period with goals from Toews and Duncan Keith.
Toews scored after he was sprung on a breakaway by Kane. Keith added his
third goal of the campaign with a power play point shot that sailed
past a screened Jose Theodore with 17 seconds left.
Kane scored the lone goal of the second period to give the Blackhawks a 3-0 lead. The young sniper finished off a two-on-one by wristing a shot between Theodore’s legs for his 11th goal of the season and first in 14 games.
David Bolland had a late second period goal disallowed because he batted it out of the air with a high stick.
