Blue Jackets 3, Wild 1
R.J. Umberger scored two goals and Steve Mason made 34 saves as the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets evened the season series with Minnesota by defeating the Wild for the second time this week, 3-1, on Saturday.
Mason preserved the win with his biggest save three minutes into the third period, stopping Dany Heatley on a breakaway.
James Wisniewski secured the win with an empty net goal.
Umberger scored his ninth goal of the season and second of the night on the power-play with 21 seconds left in the middle frame to give the Blue Jackets a 2-1 lead. Umberger found a rebound in the crease and lifted it up and over goaltender Niklas Backstrom.
Umberger scored his first of the night with 56 seconds remaining in the first period to pull the Blue Jackets into a 1-1 tie. Umberger snapped the puck from the top of the right face-off circle that trickled through Backstrom.
Captain Rick Nash, who hit the post on a breakaway in the second period, assisted on both Umberger goals, giving him a goal and four assists in his last four games.
Devon Setoguchi notched his 12th of the season at 14:58 when he snapped a shot from the slot past Mason.
