Flames 4, Red Wings 1: Captain Jarome Iginla scored his first goal of the season and defenseman Dennis Wideman had a tally and an assist as visiting Calgary stunned Detroit to earn its second win of the season.
Curtis Glencross and blue-liner Mark Giordano each scored on the power play for Calgary, which entered with an NHL-low four points. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 19 shots before leaving at the end of the second period with a lower-body injury.
Johan Franzen scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, who saw their three-game home winning streak come to an end.
Iginla opened the scoring 3:24 into the game by burying a rebound in close after Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard was unable to control Alex Tanguay’s shot. The Flames doubled their lead midway through the period when Glencross converted a long pass from Mike Cammalleri.
Franzen got one back for the Red Wings on a power play at 12:37 of the second period, beating Kiprusoff with a backhand shot. But Wideman made it 3-1 just 24 seconds before the session ended, and Giordano closed out the scoring in the third.
