Predators 4, Flyers 3 (SO)

Defenseman Roman Josi scored the decisive goal in the seventh round of the shootout to lift Nashville to its first win in Philadelphia since November 2006.

Captain Shea Weber had a goal and two assists, David Legwand recorded one of each and Eric Nystrom also scored as the Predators registered their first shootout victory in six chances this season. Carter Hutton made 27 saves and denied 5-of-7 attempts in the bonus format to win his second straight start.

Wayne Simmonds scored the tying goal during a power play with 1:24 to play and added a pair of assists for the Flyers, who lost for the third time in four games (1-2-1). Defenseman Andrej Meszaros had a goal and an assist, Brayden Schenn also scored and Steve Mason turned aside 34 shots for Philadelphia.

The Flyers needed only 86 seconds to get on the scoreboard as Meszaros set up Simmonds for a shot, giving Schenn an easy rebound to tap home. The Predators answered 9 1/2 minutes later as Nystrom redirected Gabriel Bourque's crossing pass and went ahead with 3:25 left in the period on Legwand's one-timer from the bottom of the right faceoff circle that came seconds after a 5-on-3 expired.

Philadelphia forged a tie when a cutting Meszaros took a pass from Simmonds in the left circle and snapped a high shot past Hutton with 3.6 seconds left in the second period. Weber's power-play goal, a blast from the point at 5:10 of the third, put Nashville back on top, but the Flyers forced overtime when Simmonds scored on a deflection of former Predators captain Kimmo Timonen's shot.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Weber, who has notched 20 points in his last 18 games, made his first appearance in Philadelphia since signing a 14-year, $110 million offer sheet in July 2012. ... Simmonds' three-point effort gave him 11 goals and 20 points in his last 15 games for the Flyers, who had killed off 31-of-32 short-handed situations before Legwand's tally. ... Hutton made a highlight-reel save on Philadelphia rookie Michael Raffl, sprawling from behind the net and diving to glove his shot that was earmarked for an open net.
