Penguins 4, Blackhawks 1

James Neal and Lee Stempniak scored 21 seconds apart midway through the first period as host Pittsburgh halted its three-game home losing streak.

Captain Sidney Crosby tallied twice in the third - including into an empty net - for the Metropolitan Division-leading Penguins, who totaled six goals over their previous four contests. Chris Kunitz notched two assists and Marc-Andre Fleury made 25 saves.

Defenseman Sheldon Brookbank netted the lone goal for the Blackhawks, who completed an 0-3-0 road trip and lost captain Jonathan Toews to an upper-body injury in the process. Corey Crawford turned aside 23 shots as Chicago remained one point behind second-place Colorado in the Central Division.

Neal opened the scoring at 9:44 of the first, beating Crawford from the left faceoff circle during a 2-on-1 rush. Before the home crowd finished celebrating, Stempniak fired the puck between Crawford's pads from the right circle for a 2-0 lead.

Chicago halved the deficit with 8:50 remaining in the second as Brookbank's rising blast from the left point found its way through traffic and into the top right corner of the net. But Crosby hit the top right corner from the left circle during another 2-on-1 with 4:51 left in the third to thwart the comeback attempt.
