Blues 3, Blackhawks 2

Ryan Reaves and Dmitrij Jaskin scored 1:45 apart late in the second period to lift St. Louis over visiting Chicago.

Jaden Schwartz also netted his team-high fifth goal as the Blues handed the Blackhawks their second straight 3-2 setback in the first meeting between the teams since Chicago's six-game playoff series win last season. Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo notched a pair of assists and Brian Elliott turned aside 22 shots as St. Louis ended a brief two-game skid.

Patrick Sharp scored a goal and set up another for the Blackhawks, who were outshot for the first time (31-24) since the season opener. Kris Versteeg added a goal and Antti Raanta made 28 saves in his third straight start in place of the injured Corey Crawford.

The Blues scored twice in the final 1:51 of the middle session, going ahead 2-1 after a lengthy video review confirmed that Reaves' rebound attempt crossed the goal line. Jaskin made it 3-1 at 19:54 by whipping home a rebound from the slot, but Versteeg buried a wrist shot off a crossing pass from Sharp just over 2 1/2 minutes into the third.

The Blackhawks had a 5-on-3 only 54 seconds into the game and quickly converted as Sharp buried a perfect cross-crease feed from Patrick Kane at 1:02. St. Louis knotted it 11 minutes later, when Schwartz nearly fanned on a shot, only to see it trickle between the pads of a screened Raanta.
