Canucks 4, Hurricanes 1

Ryan Miller made 29 saves to become the 30th goaltender in NHL history to reach the 300-win plateau in host Vancouver's victory.

Brad Richardson scored his first two goals of the season, including an empty-net tally, as the Canucks kept Carolina winless (0-6-2). Linden Vey and Jannik Hansen added second-period tallies for Vancouver while Miller turned aside 24 shots over the final two periods.

Jiri Tlusty scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes, who completed an 0-4-1 road trip in which they scored six goals. Cam Ward made 21 saves to fall to 0-3-1.

Richardson put the Canucks ahead 1:32 into the contest, splitting a pair of defensemen before beating Ward for his first goal of the season. Vancouver struck again early in the second period when Vey tucked in a shot short side for a power-play tally less than a minute into the frame.

Hansen extended the lead to 3-0 with 1:21 left in the session, deflecting Yannick Weber's shot from the point past Ward. The Hurricanes finally got on the board on a wrister by Tlusty with 8:55 left in the third.
